Oh The Sights To See...

There are many interesting sights to see from the school bus as you pass them on your way to school.  Many interesting things indeed.  On the way you pass many houses crammed together on narrow twisted roads with the laundry all hung out to dry.  You see many happy faces, both young and old, smiling and greeting each other and laughing.  You see stylish girls struttin' it out on the cobblestone runway (A.K.A. sidewalk), while the boys stand on the corner, smoking.  You see many little coffee shops, bakeries, delis and fruit stands with old men who have tanned, weathered skin and white, white hair sitting in old wooden chairs out front.
Then you pass herds of black and white spotted sheep running amongst the trees (no they're not cows they're sheep I checked all you smart alecs out there).  And then you see the occasional crumbling castle, completely forgotten on the hillside.  And there's a sad beauty to it.
Then you are once again in a town, with lots of fancy stores with fancy names and fancy items to sell.  No doubt containing lots of labels such as Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana...maybe even Prada.  And you see the sea, and you pass multiple other schools, including one with a huge golden Jesus out front.  That one is my favourite.
After all these wonderous things, you turn one final corner and see the towering pink school in which I now attend.  And you become aware of the music that's playing on the radio.  Techno....or all that other modern...stuff.  The kind of music where you take eight bars of notes, and play it over and over and over again.  And then you add some funky sound effects that make you feel like you're aboard the Enterprise from Star Trek.  And then you throw in maybe four words and you keep repeating them in different variations.  And it's always about love or sexy women and all I can imagine is Spock grindin' it up with some super hot Romulan chick or something.
And then we get off the bus of wonders....and we go to school.

  1. Great descriptive writing Mikeala. I can "see" what you write about. I really loved your words on the T T T T techno mu mu mu music. It must be so awesome to see the old crumbling castles, and the pastoral scenes as you travel in this modern and old world mish mash of surroundings. What a great life! Looking forward to your next entry!
